Ah, the best-laid plans.
Whether an important business meeting or presentation, a much looked-forward-to social event like a wedding, graduation, or party, or a vacation, trip, or weekend away, should food poisoning rear its ugly head, your important even could easily be disrupted.
Sometimes food poisoning can be just a minor inconvenience, but sometimes it can be so severe it requires a trip to (or even admission to) a hospital. Food poisoning results from the ingestion of harmful bacteria that your body cannot digest on its own. It’s usually the result of eating food or drinking water or other beverages contaminated with bacteria, viruses, parasites, or toxins. Symptoms typically develop within 24-hours of consuming bacteria-contaminated drinks or foods. Food poisoning can last from a day to two or up to nearly a week, and most complications are a result of the dehydration that comes with it.
Fortunately, IV therapy can help, and it is the quickest and most effective path to relief and healing. Our IV infusions quickly remedy various symptoms. Each treatment, customized to each client, takes about 30 to 45 minutes to administer.
Dehydration, the state that occurs when your body is losing more fluids than the body can absorb and retain, is a primary symptom of food poisoning and can cause extreme thirst, dry mouth, lower volume urination, headache, and muscle cramps. (If your food poisoning-induced dehydration causes you not to be able to drink water without vomiting, you should seek medical help immediately). But drinking water isn’t likely to be enough to reverse all the symptoms of dehydration or food poisoning. IV therapy may be a better bet because:
• IV therapy relieves dehydration immediately. It is the fastest and most effective way to get fluids back into the body.
• When delivering the essential fluids (and other nutrients and vitamins) via IV, the digestive system, which might otherwise reject orally consumed food and beverage, is bypassed. Skipping the digestive system and going right to the bloodstream ensures the absorption necessary for quick symptom relief.
• When targeted medicines and vitamins are added to a client’s IV, the likelihood of a quick and efficient resolution increases. Our IV therapists, in conjunction with our supervising registered nurse, can work with you to determine which add-ins will deliver the most relief.
